Imagine coming down to picturesque, rural Devon for a few days, staying in a comfortable old Farmhouse, eating fresh home cooked food and learning how to design your garden in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. A place where you can focus on yourself and your garden without the interruptions of everyday life and where there is time for you and any questions you may have.
Erica is an experienced and professional garden designer who will guide you through the design stages. No experience or drawing skills are needed, just the enthusiasm to design your dream garden!
Preparation for the course consists of measuring your own garden, a wish list and a mood board. Instructions for these will be sent once you have enrolled on a course.
All courses follow the same format. Erica discusses your garden and helps you to look through her extensive library of garden books and magazines for inspiration and ideas. You will cover the basic principles of designing a garden and then start drawing up your ideas.
During the course you will draw up the new layout of your garden, showing the position of the features you want to include, the materials you would like to use and the areas for planting. You will have the satisfaction and personal achievement of drawing up your very own design.
Design Your Own Garden 2 days £250 (with bed and breakfast for two nights £350)
This is an intensive two day course for those who have limited time, small to medium sized gardens or a large front garden.

Create Your Own Planting Plan 3 days £325

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to revamp their existing borders or as a follow on from Design your own garden and learn about using plants to maximum effect in the garden. Includes a guided tour of RHS Rosemoor to view the fantastic display gardens for inspiration and ideas. You will need to bring with you a plan of your existing borders, details of how to do this will be sent once you have enrolled on a course.
First Impressions - Design Your Own Front Garden 1 day £175
The front garden is often neglected but it is actually very important as it is in use every day of the year. For any visitor it is their first impression of you and your home. This one day intensive course is ideal if you have a small to medium size front garden. Similar in content to the other [garden design courses], you will draw up a plan that will transform your unkempt, dull patch into a welcoming, beautiful, functional front garden that will set off your home. You will also draw up a planting plan.
All courses run from 10.00 to 4.00 each day and include a light lunch, drinks and snacks.
Evening meals are not included but these can be requested in advance.
All course materials are provided and there is an extensive reference library of garden books and magazines to browse through at your leisure.
You can do a course whenever you wish or join an existing one. It is entirely up to you, just ring or email to arrange a convenient date.
Partners are welcome to come and stay at an additional cost of £15 per night. They can explore what this part of Devon has to offer while you are attending the course. You can add a couple of days to your stay so that you can spend some quality time together and visit some of the local attractions.
