In the area

Lake Farmhouse is situated in the middle of Ruby Country, and is an ideal base for exploring what this part of Devon has to offer. We are also within easy reach of North Cornwall and the Cornish coast.

In addition to cycling, playing golf and visiting gardens there are plenty of attractions within an hour's drive of Lake Farmhouse.

Riding on Dartmoor

Star gazing
See the night sky as nature intended. There is no light pollution at Lake Farmhouse, just a pitch black sky, bright twinkling stars and the Milky Way to admire. When there is a full moon there is enough moonlight to wander around the garden without a torch.

Fishing on the river Torridge
Famous for its fly fishing where salmon, sea trout and brown trout can all be caught. Fishing permits for the river can be arranged on a daily basis.

Dragon Archery
Themed archery ranges in covered bays. Start in the practice area then move on to shoot the dinosaurs, knights and Orcs before the final challenge of confronting the red dragon. An excellent family day out.

The Ruby Country trail
Relaxing walks through the countryside of Cookbury, Hatherleigh and Sheepwash.

Guided walks on Dartmoor
We can arrange guided two hour walks on Dartmoor, with good company, history and facts along the way.

Horse riding on Dartmoor
Dramatic, wild scenery, morning or afternoon rides, pub rides where you stop at a pub for lunch. Good gallops for the more adventurous riders or gentle walks for the less experienced. All rides are escorted.

Farmers markets
Fresh local produce, livestock auction, trade stalls and second hand stalls. Every Tuesday morning in Hatherleigh and every Wednesday morning in Holsworthy.
